Pajamas ( Eddie Zelnick)

1952

Pajamas worked at Lakeland and Kinderland for 33 years from 19xx to 19xx. His job was to keep the grounds clean and in good condition. Pajamas got his name when there was a fire in a building near the infirmary. It was in the middle of the night when Eddie heard the call "fire." He immediately ran outside, half dressed and half in pajamas. From that time on, the children in Camp Kinderland and Lakeland's visitors and guests always call him Pajamas.

Nathianiel Buchwald

Lakeland Cultural Director 1942-47 for sure; and probably earlier and later in the 40s. He engaged the permanent cultural staff -- Music Director, band (Joe Magaziner in those years), on-site pianist and sometimes, others, as well as the stage manager Hershl Hartman plus booking talent for weekends. He also arranged the Friday night campfire programs alongside the dining room kitchen, often writing skits in Yiddish and English.
